The Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (KMF), the people behind the “Nandini” brand, are looking for suppliers to provide biomass fuel (briquettes) for their various dairy and cattle feed plants

Who Can Apply:
The tender is open to manufacturers with significant production capabilities. For example, suppliers for the Ramanagaram plant must have a production capacity of at least 125 MT per day and a turnover of at least ₹8 crore in any of the last three years
.
Key Requirements:
- Suppliers must provide Earnest Money Deposits (EMD) ranging from ₹90,000 to over ₹14 lakhs depending on the unit.
- MSME Preference: Technically qualified MSMEs are encouraged to participate, with specific timelines for EMD submission.
- Delivery Standards: Materials must be supplied in bags, protected by rainproof covers, and delivered on a staggered basis as per the plant’s requirements.
- Precision Engineering: Not all biomass is equal. KMF mandates strict quality standards to ensure their 10 TPH and 15 TPH boilers run efficiently.
- The Perfect Briquette:
- Size: Standard briquettes must be 150mm in length and 90mm in diameter.
- Energy Content: The Calorific Value must be at least 3900 to 4000 Kcal/kg to ensure high heat output.
- Moisture & Ash: To prevent boiler damage and ensure clean burning, moisture must be below 10-12% and ash content below 9-10%.
- Quality Control: Suppliers are required to provide a test report with every load and an external source test report once a month to maintain these standards.

- Focus: The logistical challenges of maintaining a massive fuel supply chain.
- Continuous Production: KMF processes millions of kilograms of milk daily, making “timely processing” a paramount concern Because milk is highly perishable, the fuel supply for boilers must never fail.
- Weatherproofing the Supply: To combat the monsoon season, KMF requires suppliers to have dryers and wood chippers on-site at their production units
- They must also maintain a minimum storage capacity (e.g., 800-1200 MT) to ensure at least 10 days of backup stock during heavy rains.
- End-to-End Responsibility: The supplier is responsible for the entire logistics chain—from loading and transportation to unloading and stacking at the designated KMF godowns.
- This ensures that the dairy plants can focus on their core mission: providing quality milk products to the public.
