Biomass Briquette Supply Opportunity in Karnataka
- The Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (KMF) has announced a short-term tender for the supply of biomass briquettes.
- This is a significant contract intended to fuel boilers at several key plants for a six-month period.

Who Can Apply:
This isn’t just for any supplier; KMF is looking for high-capacity, experienced manufacturers.
- Production Power: Bidders must have a plant with at least 125 MT per day production capacity and own at least 5 manufacturing machines.
- Infrastructure: To ensure supply doesn’t stop during the monsoon, tenderers must have at least 5 dryers, 5 hammer mills, and a godown with a 1,200 MT storage capacity.
- Financial Strength: A turnover of at least Rs. 8 Crores in any one of the last three years is required.
- Track Record: Applicants must have previously supplied similar materials at 80% of the required quantity or value in the last three years.

Technical Specifications :
The briquettes must meet strict quality standards to ensure the boilers run efficiently:
- Composition: Made primarily of groundnut shells (50-60%) and sawdust/wood-chips (30-40%).
- Size: Circular sections, 150mm in length and 90mm in diameter.
- Energy Value: A Gross Calorific Value (GCV) of not less than 3,900 K Cal/kg.
- Purity: Must be free from fouling materials like mustard, coffee husk, or tamarind, and free from adulterants like sand or stones.
Key Requirements:
- Bidders need to be ready with the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD), which must be paid in a single electronic transaction
- For the largest unit (NHMPP), the EMD is Rs. 14,25,000.
- Successful contractors must also provide a 5% Security Deposit.
