KPCL Invites Tender for 3.6 Lakh MT Biomass Pellet Supply for Thermal Power Stations
Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL), a Government of Karnataka Enterprise, has invited e-tenders for the procurement of 3.60 Lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) of Agro-Residue Based Non-Torrefied Biomass Pellets for co-firing in its thermal power stations.

Technical Specifications of Biomass Pellets
Suppliers must ensure that the pellets comply with the following quality standards.
Raw Material
Only Agricultural / Crop Residue based biomass pellets are permitted.
Wood-based pellets are strictly prohibited.
Pellet Specifications
- Diameter: Maximum 25 mm
- Length: Maximum 35 mm
- Gross Calorific Value (GCV): 2800–3800 Kcal/Kg
- Base GCV for Bid Evaluation: 3800 Kcal/Kg
- Moisture Content: Maximum 14%
- Fines (Below 3 mm): Maximum 5%
Who Can Apply?
The bidder must satisfy the following Pre-Qualification Requirements (PQR):
Technical Experience
The bidder should have successfully manufactured and supplied minimum 1.80 Lakh MT of Biomass Pellets to Government or Private Utilities during any one of the last five financial years.
Financial Eligibility
- Minimum Annual Turnover: ₹756 Crore
- Positive Net Worth as on 31 March 2026
- Minimum Unutilized Line of Credit: ₹94.50 Crore
Earnest Money Deposit (EMD)
Total EMD: ₹3.78 Crore
- ₹1,00,000 through the Karnataka Public Procurement Portal.
- Remaining ₹3.77 Crore through Bank Guarantee or Direct Remittance.
