Capital Investment subsidy scheme for construction/expansion/ modernization of cold storage and storage for Horticulture Produce.
Cold storage facilities are commonly built to store perishable goods for some time. Cold rooms are very important because they help to prolong the shelf life of fresh goods. They are also effective in reducing the amount of waste and in lengthening the time frame for marketing these foods.
Horticulture Produce – Horticulture is the science and art of the development, sustainable production, marketing, and use of high-value, intensively cultivated food and ornamental plants. Horticultural crops are diverse, including Annual and perennial species, Fruits and vegetables, and Decorative indoor plants.

Financial Assistance Available for setting cold storage
- The assistance will be given as a subsidy @ 35% of the capital cost of the project in general areas and 50% in the case of NE, Hilly States & Scheduled Areas for a storage capacity above 5000 MT up to 10000 MT. (In the case of North East states, projects with a capacity of 1000 MT or above are also eligible for application and consideration).
- Calculation of Capacity for subsidy:- For calculation of capacity, 3.4 cubic meters (cum.) (120 cubic feet (ft.) of chamber, volume shall be considered equivalent to 1 MT storage capacity
- Cost Norms – Basic mezzanine structure with the large chamber (of > 250 MT) type with single temperature zone;-
Applicant's Eligibility/ Eligible Organizations for setting cold storage unit
Organizations/promoters, such as Association of Growers, Individuals, group of farmer growers/consumers, Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs,) Partnership/Proprietary Firms, Self Help groups (SHGs), NGOs, Companies, Corporations, Cooperatives, Co-operative Marketing Federations, Agricultural Produce Marketing Committees, Marketing Boards/Committees, Municipal Corporations/ Committees, Agro Industries Corporations, SAU’s and other concerned R&D organizations are eligible to get assistance under a Scheme
