New Updates For Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF)

In 2020, the Central Government launched the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) for the establishment of processing industries in the animal husbandry sector, which was implemented until 31st March 2023.
So the Government released a notification on 26th March 2024 to extend the continuation of this scheme until 31st March 2026.
A new eligible entity has been included :
Following are the eligible entities :
- Farmer Producer Organization (FPO)
- Private companies
- Individual entrepreneurs
- Micro Small and Medium Enterprises
- Dairy Cooperatives
- Section 8 Companies
Benefits :
The Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) has been approved for investments by individual entrepreneurs, private companies, MSME, Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs), Dairy Cooperatives to establish :-
- Dairy processing and value addition infrastructure : Dairy processing and value addition infrastructure are the facilities and tools used to turn milk into different products like cheese, butter.
- Meat processing and value addition infrastructure : Where meat is prepared and made into different products.
- Animal Feed Plant : It is a place where food for animals is made. This can include things like grains, vitamins, and minerals that are mixed together to create a balanced diet for animals like cows, chickens, or pigs.
- Breed Improvement technology : This is a way to make animals healthier, stronger, or better suited for specific purposes. It involves using techniques like selective breeding or genetic engineering to enhance desirable traits in animals, such as milk production in cows etc.
- Setting up of Veterinary Vaccine and Drugs Manufacturing facilities : These facilities produce treatments for various animal illnesses and vaccines to prevent diseases.
- Animal Waste to Wealth Management (Agri Waste Management): This includes using manure to make fertilizers for crops or converting waste into biogas for energy.
Major Benefit :
- If you take a loan from the Bank, you will get a 3% interest subsidy on that loan for up to 8 years. To take this you will get a cheaper Bank Loan because the interest on the loan will be reduced by 3% for up to 8 years.
- Under this scheme, there is a provision for Credit Guarantee Coverage. This means that even if you do not have security to give to the bank, you can still get a Bank Loan easily.
- With Interest Subvention, if you are eligible for a Subsidy from the State or Central Government, you can also avail of it without any restrictions.
