Dear Businessman/Investors, In Series of KIP: Business and Subsidy Update, today we are going to share with you Subsidy schemes by the Central Government as National Livestock Mission by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying.

The Scheme of National Livestock Mission (NLM) aims to increase the production of meat, goat milk, egg and wool. That ultimate creates the employment generation, entrepreneurship development, and increase in per animal productivity in the Country. The excess production will help in the export earnings after meeting the domestic demands. Central Government will extend this scheme further from the financial year 2021-22 in order to boost the sector and encourage them by providing financial assistance to the unit setup under this sector.

The Projects covered under National Livestock Mission which is eligible for the subsidy benefit are as follows:

1. Breed Development of Livestock, Poultry, Sheep, Goat and Piggery
2. Promotion of Piggery Entrepreneurs
3. Feed and Fodder development
4. Extension and Innovation etc.

Eligible beneficiary in National Livestock Mission:

• Individual,
• Section 8 Companies,
• Farmer Producers Organization,
• Self Help Group

Financial Assistance/Subsidy/Benefits Available:-

• Capital Subsidy for Breed Development (Sheep and Goat farming) in ruminant area: Capital subsidy is available for the development in ruminant areas, sustainable business model on sheep-goat and this type of business fall under national livestock mission scheme. Moreover, conversion of small unorganised ruminant sector to organised sector through promotion.

Pattern of Assistance: 50% capital subsidy subject to maximum Rs 50 Lakh.

Condition: The Eligible Entities can establish sheep and goat breeding unit with minimum 500 females and 25 males can take the benefit of national Livestock mission. The sheep and goat unit to be established with the High Genetic Variety used for producing Goat milk, meet and fine wool quality.

• Capital Subsidy for Promotion of Piggery Entrepreneur: Promotion of entrepreneurship & investment in the sector improvement of per animal productivity of pig population of the country through genetic upgradation To substitute import dependency in pork and start export of pork and pork products Spreading awareness about scientific rearing practices, nutrition, disease prevention etc.

Pattern of Assistance: 50% capital subsidy subject to maximum Rs 30 Lakh.

Condition: The Eligible Entities can establish breeder farm with minimum 100 sow and 25 boars breeding animal from government or local farms with high genetic merit.
